The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas offers up aromas of rose petal, red cherry and wild berries, as well as bass notes of coniferous forest floor. On the palate, the wine is the most multidimensional and ample of Roty's lieux-dits, but also the most tensile and mineral, its tannins fine-grained, its fruit pure, and its finish sappy and long.

Medium red. Riper and more classic 2015 on the nose than the Cuvée de La Brunelle, offering aromas of red raspberry, strawberry, spices and licorice along with a suggestion of torrefaction. Fat, plush, sweet wine with lovely breadth of texture; in a distinctly gentler style than the other Gevrey village wines at this address, offering an enticing combination of red and black fruits and spices. This wine relies more on its lively acidity than on its smooth, refined tannins for structure. Finishes with enticing perfumed persistence.

Bright red-ruby. Fresh but reduced aromas of blackberry and violet come across as extremely primary today. Similarly stunted--even unformed--on the palate, but with strong concentration to the backward flavors of kirsch , blackberry and licorice. Shows a light saline quality but little in the way of easy sweetness. This penetrating wine does not yet show the texture of the Brunelle and is tougher to judge today. Similarly very tight on the finish, with menthol and pepper notes accentuating the impression of spine. This village wine will require patience.
