Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard 7 & 8 Estate is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. A big, rich wine, the 2017 exudes intensity in all of its dimensions. Blackberry jam, chocolate, espresso, licorice and dark spice meld together in a potent, brooding Cabernet endowed with tremendous depth. In a vintage in which many wines are on the lighter side, the 7 & 8 Estate packs a serious punch. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade, as the heavy torrefaction notes suggest a wine that will start to lose freshness on the earlier side.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a deep garnet-purple color and a slightly closed nose of baked red and black cherries, stewed plums and warm cassis with underlying suggestions of fragrant earth, tar and spice box. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers earth-laced black fruits with a chewy texture and just enough freshness, finishing savory.
The 2017 Vineyard 7 & 8 Estate is a dark, brooding wine, with huge dark fruit and equally imposing tannins. Time will help the tannins soften a bit, but I expect the 2017 will always remain rather virile in feel. Espresso, mocha, tobacco, leather and black fruit all develop in the glass.
