Tasting notes
The 2013 Brut Reserve is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 27% Pinot Meunier and 18% Chardonnay from Burgundy clones planted on heavy clay soils near the Romney Marshes. This was disgorged in 2016. It has a fresh pear and green apple bouquet that needs to show more delineation (à la Blanc de Blancs). The palate is simple and light and fresh: nicely balanced with fresh green apples and citrus lemon. Yet it just fades towards the finish when you want it to finish with a bang.

Disgorged 2 September 2016. 55% Pinot Noir, 27% Pinot Meunier, 18% Chardonnay. Really lovely creamy and fresh apple aromas – great concentration and lively acid. Still very, very young – not much autolysis on the nose – but the palate finishes with a very classy bready character. The purity of fruit is a thing to behold! (RH)
