Based on 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Semillon (from Napa and Sonoma County) and aged in 27% new oak, the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc offers juicy citrus and hints of grapefruit intermixed with minty flowers on the nose. It's medium-bodied, plush, and supple on the palate and has a fruit-driven profile with tons of charm. I like it today, yet this will keep for 7-8 years, if not a decade, if well stored. Drink 2025-2035.

The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is a pretty, open-knit wine that captures the generosity of the year. Pear, apricot, yellow flowers and sage are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. Floral overtones lift the finish. This is an open-knit, accessible vintage for the Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc.
Spottswoode's 2024 Sauvignon Blanc draws fruit from both Sonoma (57%) and Napa (43%), incorporating 6% Sémillon as well. Fermented and matured in a mix of new and used French oak, stainless steel and "other" vessels (amphora, ceramic, concrete), it's a lively wine, with white grapefruit easily combining and underpinning riper notes of fig and guava. Medium- to full-bodied, it's silky, elegant and long on the finish.
According to winemaker Aron Weinkauf: '2024 was relatively late. Budbreak occurred at the start of April like in 2023 and 2025. After budbreak it was fairly warm and by July, pre-veraison, it was extremely hot. The hottest heat spike on record occurred in July. Post veraison the temperatures were warm but not hot. Yields were mostly good. Vines had recuperated from 2020/21 drought and Spottswoode was able to mostly dry farm in 2024.' Medium lemon with a hint of green. Incredibly aromatic with juicy mango and pineapple – a bit candied. Fresh and lovely and lightly floral with sweet grass notes. Scintillating, refreshing acidity that starts linear and broadens on the finish. No pithy bitterness to speak of. Very fine with no evident oak flavour but a bit of texture. Not as texturally interesting as the 2023 but more persistent and flavourful. (SCJ)
