Tasting notes
The series of Grand Crus kicks off with the Corton-Renardes, as it always does. Deep, explosive and bursting at the seams with unbridled energy, the 2016 is positively electric in the glass. Only Lalou Bize-Leroy can coax this level of textural intensity and pure drive in Corton. As compelling as the 2016 is at the outset, it really explodes on the mid-palate and finish, with a mélange of aromas, flavors and textures that is nothing short of mesmerizing.

The 2016 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru is a particular success, unwinding with a captivating bouquet of rose petal, raspberries, orange rind and rich spices that are beautifully defined and multifaceted. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with satiny tannins that lend it a more than usually seductive aspect, though still underpinned by the bright line of acidity that always lend this wine is structure, concluding with a long and pure finish.
