Tasting notes
Chardonnay planted 1969 on sand and limestone at 800 ft. 18 months in barrel, racked once, bottled unfiltered. Pale greenish straw. Juicy, clean and obviously from a cool site. Long. Still quite tight. (JR)

The 2022 Chardonnay Los Alamos Vineyard combines refined tropical power with flashy, radiant aromatics, leading with pineapple rind, oatmeal and citrus peel aromas. The palate is oily and nearly sumptuous before pulling back into a punchy finish that remains clean and chiseled, enriched with caramelized decadence after further aeration. This is a beautifully approachable yet serious entryway into the Chanin roster of vineyard-designate Chardonnays.
Rocking levels of stone fruits, honeysuckle, toasted spices, and brioche-like notes all emerge from the 2022 Chardonnay Los Alamos Vineyard, a medium-bodied, forward, supple Chardonay that shines for its purity and balance. As with most 2022s, it has a soft, forward style that just begs to be drunk. It should keep for 4-6 years.
The 2022 Chardonnay Los Alamos Vineyard is wonderfully expressive right out of the gate. Lemon confit, apricot, white flowers, mint and chamomile all grace this exquisite Chardonnay. The 2022 has a bit more textural richness and phenolic intensity than most years. Even so, this is beguiling.
