Tasting notes
From Finca San Rafael in Laserna, Laguardia, the 2022 Graciano opens with balsamic tones, low-scrub herbs, camphor and blackberry on the nose. On the palate, it is dry, broad and juicy, with elevated freshness for its dark profile and a long, black-fruited finish marked by subtle oak. A classic among varietal Gracianos—intense and clearly defined.

The 2022 Graciano was produced with grapes from their vineyard with more potential, San Gregorio, 3.7 hectares planted in 1979 from where they also source the white. They want to keep the varietal character here, fermenting the grapes in 1,000-liter French oak barrels, and the wine matured in 225- and 500-liter oak barrels of different ages for 14 months and was polished by two more months in concrete. It has the spicy and peppery profile of the grape, with blue fruit and some tar and a vibrant palate that is very fine-boned. It has contained ripeness, 13.74% alcohol, a pH of 3.28 and 6.92 grams of acidity, quite impressive parameters of freshness and acidity for a warm and dry year like 2022. It has very fine tannins and is quite civilized. The 2022s are a triumph over the adverse conditions of the year here, and this is no exception. It's one of the finest Gracianos of recent times. 5,333 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.
