Score 87/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Apr 2023
The 2021 Chapelle 1441 is named after a restored chapel in the center of Riquewihr and is made from five different parcels. One is in the limestone soils of Froehn Grand Cru, planted in the 1960s; three others are in Riquewihr. The 2021 displays vibrant freshness, with strident acidity and some bitterness from grippy tannins. This is a somewhat rustic Pinot Noir, with an edge of pepper spice, plenty of crunchy red berry fruit and much red pepper on the finish. Get the charcuterie out. (Bone-dry)
