Score 93/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jul 2008

The barest hint of toast frames very ripe orchard fruit, particularly peach, along with citrus and floral notes that continue onto the rich, round and notably powerful flavors that possess ample dry extract as well as plenty of size, muscle and weight on the intense driving and persistent finish. While I often prefer the Chevalier at this address, it's clear that in 2006, there is another dimension here.

Pale, green-tinged color. Sexy aromas of lemon, lime, musky white flowers and minerals, plus a hint of pineapple. Sweet, floral and creamy-rich, but with lovely balancing acidity and firm structure to the pineapple and stone flavors. Not particularly sweet on the chewy, saline back end. These are Niellon's oldest vines, along with the Chaumees.
