Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,250 g. Aged in 35% new French oak for 18 months. Bottled unfiltered. 175 cases produced. Aromas of mocha, plum and cherry. Flavours of mocha and cherry mix with plum and dried herbs as fleecy tannins coat the mouth, stiffening slightly and beginning to parch the palate. Very good acidity. (AY)

Jaime Araujo’s own brand, made in Calistoga. All picked in the third week of September, so well after the marked heat spike. Neutral oak only. Sweet at first and then the tannins kick in. Slightly drying on the end. (JR)
Smoky black cherries, leather, peppery herbs, and cedary nuances all emerge from the 2022 Merlot Muir-Hanna Vineyard, a ripe, round, and medium-bodied 2022 that has a plush, supple mouthfeel and a good finish. This solid effort should drink well over the coming 4-5 years. Drink 2025-2029.
