Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Neal Martin, May 2024
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Abbaye de Morgeot 1er Cru feels quite reductive on the nose, and as such, it lacks the brightness and complexity of its peers. The palate is balanced and taut, with modest depth, though it cannot replicate the complexity of the top wines in this flight. But there is freshness on the finish, and it will drink well over the following 10 to 12 years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Crushed hazelnuts, salted butter, baked apples, pie crust and dried jasmine flowers here. Lovely complexity and generosity, with full-bodied layers of ripe stone fruit married to a pastry-like creaminess. Long, too. Drink or hold.
