Tasting notes
Samples of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah were all tasted separately from cask at the domaine. Cinsault: Peppery scent with crystal-clear red fruit. Great purity and intensity. Long, gradual fade. Grenache: Less spicy than the Cinsault but shimmers with the same fruit purity – redcurrant, red cherry – plus clove from oak. Long, chewy texture. Syrah: Stemmy, herby and peppery – this is on-trend, chewy, raw Syrah with meatiness and perfume throughout – extraordinary. (RH)

About the producer

Ch. Rayas is a cult name in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines – pure, silken expressions of Grenache with distinctive perfume – are revered for their singularity and fiercely collected. Made by Emmanuel Reynaud and renowned for their ageability, they have become some of the region's most sought-after.
