Tasting notes
Smoky reduction still sits atop the fine, bright lemon nose of 2021 Riesling Ockfener Bockstein Kabinett Green Capsule alongside a touch of barley sugar. The palate is bold with sweetness, yet cut with fine lemon acidity that is both smoky and zesty. A flicker of both pith and zest appears on the mid-palate lending texture. The finish is long, lemony, bright and lasting with that barley sugar. (Medium)

The 2021 Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Spätlese (Green Capsule) opens with a discreet but deep, fresh and concentrated nose of broken slate and ripe white fruits. On the palate, this is a round, refined and elegant Klosterberg Spätlese with a long, crystalline and saline finish. The wine has highly stimulating phenolic grip, and the intensity is paired with balance. The 2021 already drinks beautifully, but it can also be cellared for 20 or 30 years. 9.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.
