The 2022 Barbaresco is a pretty, open-knit Barbaresco. Crushed flowers, cedar, tobacco and dried autumn leaves meld into a core of sweet red cherry fruit. This delicate, mid-weight Barbaresco is already quite enjoyable. I would not push my luck with aging.

A very difficult year because of extreme drought, whereas Barolo had some rain. Pale ruby. Earthy cherry that is a tiny bit singed but that doesn’t impact the freshness of fruit displayed on the nose. A core of complex cherry fruit with firm tannins that will need some time, but the whole strikes a balance. This just demands patience. (WS)
