Tasting notes
The 2021 Volnay Les Angles 1er Cru has a rather disjointed nose at first with dark berry fruit, cola and wild heather, though it coalesces with time in the glass. A slight feral note emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red berry fruit, but there is not much under the bonnet. It is a little facile with some attenuation towards the finish. Easy-drinking. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Les Angles wafts from the glass with scents of cherries, raspberries, red plums, rose petals and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with sweet, powdery tannins that are largely concealed by its succulent core of fruit, it's fine-boned and mineral.
Cask sample. A slightly raw note but great potential and life. This is a great set of wines. Long and beautifully constituted. (JR)
