Score 88/100 · Drink 2024-2028, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Aug 2024

The 2022 Sancerre Les Baronnes is derived from vines planted on clay soils (65%) and calcareous soils (35%) and matured five months on lees. It reveals a delicate, shy bouquet with aromas of lemon oil, herbs, spring flowers and spices. Medium-bodied, lively and juicy, it’s well-balanced but lacks depth and concentration for a Sancerre. Keep it over the next 2-4 years.

About the producer

Verre Glass of Wine
Henri Bourgeois

Although the family had long grown vines in Sancerre, it was in the 1950s that Henri Bourgeois started championing the wines of Chavignol. The property grew from two to 65 hectares, spread between Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, and is one of the standard-bearers for the region.
