The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is introspective on the nose. Attractive petrichor scents and a touch of damp moss emerge with time. On the entry, the palate is well balanced with lemon sherbet, quite a lot of sucrosity, orange zest and lemon thyme. Though, I find the finish lacks a bit of natural cohesion. I was quite surprised when the producer of this bottle was revealed and questioned whether there are superior bottles out there. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly spent some time in a foudre from Tonnellerie Rousseau that Colin feels marked the wine excessively, adding an exotic inflection of orange blossom and guava to its bouquet of citrus oil, fresh bread and pastry. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and open-knit, it's supple and charming, but I don't think it will ever match the 2017 or 2019 renditions.

The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes from a parcel that has the same orientation as La Chatenière, albeit with more limestone – and that is clear for all to see on the nose: crushed stone, almost flinty in style, very well delineated but a little aloof at the moment, with Puligny-like pretentions. The palate is extremely well balanced with fresh lime, elderflower and citrus notes. Harmonious and persistent in the mouth, although this year I have a preference for a couple of the other high-performing Saint-Aubins. Still a lovely wine, though.
