Good medium red. Brooding aromas of dark cherry, gingerbread spice and botanical herbs. Savory, spicy flavors of pungent red berries and tangy minerals convey lovely depth and texture. Finishes surprisingly sweet, firm and long, with a hint of boysenberry and seamless tannins. This very well-delineated wine conveys an attractive coolness in the style of the vintage.
The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques is refined, understated, slightly subdued and introspective than its fellow more outgoing 2014 Gevreys. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, hints of sea salt and brine here, developing more depth towards the finish, suggesting that this broody and introspective Lavaux will repay cellaring. One for the more patient among you.

Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most talented and connected winemakers. He created Maison Roche de Bellene, the négoce arm of Domaine de Bellene, in 2008, using his extensive network in the region to source top-quality fruit for an "haute couture" négociant operation.
