Tasting notes
Good full red. Slightly high-toned, medicinal aromas and flavors of black cherry, licorice and mint. Then classically dry and tight on the palate, in fact downright austere today, with more of the classic pepperiness of 2008 than the Charmes is showing today. Finishes with dusty, serious tannins. I wouldn't go near this for eight to ten years. A bit of a cipher today and not showing the sweetness it displayed from the barrel.

Red raspberry, licorice and herbs on the nose, plus a trace of remaining malic acidity. Silky and lush in the mouth, combining very good ripeness with a medicinal reserve. Nicely concentrated, sweet and very Clos Vougeot. Finishes with a lingering medicinal character and solid tannic spine that will require serious cellaring. (The Echezeaux had not finished its malo and was impossible to taste.)
