One of the broader, more gourmand wines in the cellar is the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes, a dramatic wine that marries rich fruit tones of cherry, pomegranate and plum with savory bass notes of dark chocolate and espresso roast. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it's structured around ripe but succulent acids and velvety tannins.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuesselottes 1er Cru includes 25% whole-bunch fruit this year and is matured in 100% new oak. The wood comes through strongly on the nose, as you would expect, making the terroir difficult to read at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and quite peppery on the midpalate, with good density. There seems to be sufficient fruit to support the 100% new oak on the finish, but it will require several years to be fully assimilated. Three barrels produced.
