Bright purple. Spicy dark berry aromas are complemented by graphite, cracked pepper, dried violet and smoked meat. In the mouth, this covers all the syrah food groups, with sweet dark fruit flavors, velvety tannins and a long, smoky finish. This is pretty delicious right now.

Dark purple. Deep blueberry and blackberry aromas complicated by a strong graphite tone. Lush, round and sweet, with pure, expressive dark berry flavors. The long, sweet finish features silky tannins.
From St Pierre-de-Boeuf, Chanson and the granitic terroir of Ribaudie. Even deeper than the Crozes. Ripe and peppery. Thick, tarry and dramatic. Such vigour and rigour! Very much a food wine with sap and without that much noticeable tannin compared to the rest of the range (quite enough compared to the other St Josephs!). Racy and perfumed – rather ‘feminine’ somehow. (JR)
