Very pale ruby-purple in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir has subtle wild strawberries, raspberry leaves and clotted cream notes on the nose with a hint of forest floor. Light-bodied, fine, fresh and elegant in the mouth, this delicately styled Pinot Noir delivers plenty of red berry intensity, finishing with an invigorating lift.

A blend of vineyards, some very cool. Some volcanic soils in the Upper Yarra. 10% whole bunch. Some foot treading, hand plunged. Up to 30 days on skins. Aged for 11 months in oak, unfined and unfiltered. Light to mid cherry red. Sweet red fruit, almost a hint of caramel. Light, delicate, sweet and juicy. Elegant and long. Scented and just at the very end there is a light chew, adding to length and depth. Fresh and pure. Real fruit sweetness compared with the Abraham Pinot Nero 2014 that followed. Great transparency and surprisingly long. (JH)
