Score 90/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Feb 2024

The 2022 Pinot Noir leads with abundant strawberries and raspberries, cranberries and sarsaparilla. In the mouth, the wine is spicy and luscious at once, with the typical lean austerity that Martinborough delivers so well, with the fleshy red berries endemic to the variety. Nicely played. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Two thousand twenty-two will not go down as the greatest vintage of all time in Martinborough – far from it – but the 2022 Pinot Noir Te Muna Road Vineyard remains a finely constructed, elegant and savory wine. Carefully handled, this lighter-bodied style has seamless, satisfying tannins alongside crunchy, refreshing acidity. Expect savory, gamey notes, with pure damson and raspberry fruit flavors. It's a revitalizing, appetizing wine; however, this vintage is probably only a medium-term proposition based on its lighter structure and density.
