Tasting notes
Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the 2018 Pinot Noir has a spicy, complex bouquet of redcurrants, mulberries, autumn leaves, iodine, and underbrush. With beautiful balance, medium to full body and a great finish, it's a gorgeous Pinot Noir from this estate to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years. These are brilliant wines from Anthony Avila. The focus is on the Bien Nacido Vineyard, which, under the helm of vineyard manager Chris Hammell, is unquestionably one of the great cool-climate sites in California. The lineup includes a handful of Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Syrahs.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard is an attractive, gracious wine. Crushed flowers, cedar, spice and star anise all lift from the glass effortlessly in this open-knit, mid-weight Pinot. Silky and already approachable, the 2018 is showing well today. Overall this is a lighter-bodied vintage for the Bien Nacido Pinot.
