Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2019 Valle d'Aosta Chardonnay Cuvée Bois opens to a golden shine and lots of intersecting aromas that come from both the fruit and oak to magnificent effect. The wood notes are very fresh, almost mild, recalling the pretty wood paneling of a Swedish sauna. There is vanilla cream that dovetails into fragrant Pink Lady apple or Turkish Delight (or nougat dessert) with powdered sugar on top. The mouthfeel is rich and thickly layered, again, to very elegant effect. Production is 18,000 bottles.
