Tasting notes
Cru bourgeois supérieur. 50% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc. 14–18 months in oak, 30% new. Mid crimson. Fragrant with both red and black fruit. A hint of stone dust. Very fine tannins, dry, paper-fine, creating an elegance, with modest fruit depth. Perhaps a little lean overall. (JH)

The 2018 Lafitte Carcasset has one of the more sensual bouquets in the appellation, featuring precise brambly red fruit, crushed stone, rose petal and light incense aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, gentle grip, a fine strong marine influence and just the right amount of bitterness on the saline finish. Enjoy this well crafted Saint-Estèphe over the next 10–15 years.
Lots of plum and assorted darker fruit as well as leafy herbs emerge from the 2018 Château Laffitte Carcasset. It's medium to full-bodied, plump, and enjoyable on the palate, with ripe tannins and impressive length on the finish.
