The 2021 Clauzet has a slightly toasty bouquet, maybe just a bit bretty. The palate is very smooth, with plush sweet black fruit, but missing some grip on the short finish.

The 2021 Clauzet is promising. There's good depth to the fruit. Bruising tannins and a slight vegetal character are a bit distracting today, but if those elements settle and/or integrate the 2021 could turn out quite nicely.

A little fresh and laking in concentration through the mid palate means it loses some St Estephe typicity, but it is an enjoyable unfussy wine. Lloyd Lippens owner, with parts of the vineyard bought by Jacky Lorenzetti for Ch Lilian Ladouys. Eric Boissenot consultant.
