Score 93-95/100 · Drink 2006-2026, Robert Parker, Oct 2006
This 100% Shiraz, from three vineyards aged 109, 127, and 152 years, spent two years in a combination of new and old French and American oak. Tasted just before it was to be bottled unfined and unfiltered, it offers up lovely aromas of blackberries, white flowers, graphite, and white chocolate. This rich, full-bodied, layered, powerful (14.5% alcohol) Shiraz cascades over the palate with great intensity, yet remains light on its feet. Possessing sweet tannin, with loads of richness and extract, it should evolve for 15-20 years. Langmeil’s winemaker, Paul Lindner, is the force behind this brilliant wine.
