52% Carmenère, 48% Syrah. Rich and lovely. Dense with savoury chocolate, blackberry and cassis. It's quite pyrazine-influenced but not at all vegetal and very well integrated. Sticky tactile tannin. Vanilla new-oak flavour and sweet smoke. For those who want dense and traditional but with balance and elegant green notes. Drinks over its price point. (SCJ)

The impressive and harmonious 2018 Vertice Apalta Vineyard, produced with 52% Carmenere and 48% Syrah, shows the precision, austerity and freshness of 2018 despite being ripe with fully developed flavors and aromas. It's medium to full-bodied with juicy fruit and a very spicy finish.
