(all whole clusters; all new oak): Bright medium red. Reticent, slightly peppery aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and smoky minerality. Plump, broad and mouthfilling, but more noteworthy for its volume than for its definition or complexity today. This wine needs time in bottle to lose some of its baby fat and gain in shape. Finishes with substantial but ripe oak-driven tannins.

The 2014 Corton Grand Cru has a very warm and inviting bouquet, a little more extraction than other 2014s from Nicolas Potel, but he has maintained great delineation and terroir expression. The palate is easy-going, surprisingly approachable thanks to its supple tannin and rounded, sensual red berry fruit; it is smooth and harmonious on the finish. Savor this over the next 5-7 years, but don't feel forced to cellar this despite its grand cru status.

(made from a single parcel, vinified with 100% whole clusters and aged in 100% new oak): Bright red. Red berries, underbrush and a touch of minerality on the nose, along with obvious oak spices. Fat, round and voluminous but not yet particularly detailed, offering ripe flavors of red berries, spices and earth. The substantial tannins are ripe but today the oak component dominates the wine's fruit and blocks its personality.
