Tasting notes
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Roncières 1er Cru has good concentration on the nose. Presenting with red fruit initially, blacker fruit nudges it out of the way as it unfolds in the glass. Perhaps there is just a scintilla of sur-maturité. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy, with ample tension, sufficient countervailing acidity and saturating tannins, becoming more linear toward its second half. There is wonderful purity to this Nuits Saint-Georges, and I appreciate the manner in which it evolves in the glass whilst all the time hinting at a prosperous future. Try to resist the temptation to drink this now. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Roncière 1er Cru has a very well-defined, effortless bouquet of dark berry fruit, plus touches of pressed iris and freshly pitted black olives. The medium-bodied palate is smooth and silky, with supple tannins and perfectly judged acidity. Very harmonious. Grivot’s trademark sorbet-like freshness is on display on the long finish. Very sensual.
