Mid crimson. A hint of mercaptan on this. And a bit tart on the palate. Not much fun. (JR)

From gravelly soils and fermented and aged in concrete vats, the 2016 Chinon Vieilles Vignes is a dark-colored Cabernet Franc with a concentrated nose of ripe, black fruits and dark spices. Concentrated and well-structured with firm tannins but good finesse and freshness, this Chinon reveals an aromatic (cassis) and floral finish. The wine has a lively character and should age well. Bottled in July 2017. Tasted in 2019.
