The 2019 Clos des Jacobins has quite an intense nose with mainly red fruit, briary, sous-bois and cedar scents that gain volume with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, maybe needing more flesh. But I feel that this has just closed down for a phase and should reopen with further bottle age. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Nicely integrated nose. Sweet-berry start and good balance of acid and tannin. Though the finish is rather uncomfortably drying for now. (JR)
The 2019 Clos Des Jacobins showed well, with quality cassis, spicy oak, leather, and floral aromatics. These all carry over to a medium-bodied, nicely focused, balanced wine that stays tight and compact on the palate yet has good density, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-4 years of bottle age and will evolve for at least 10-12 years.
Seamless and charming, the 2019 Clos des Jacobins bursts with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, loamy soil and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with ripe tannins and succulent acids, it will drink well on release.
