The 2015 Duo de Conseillante has a lovely, well-defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, cold stone and light rose petal scents, a step up from the already satisfying 2014 Duo. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, good depth and structure. There is more black fruit here than red and there is a potent spicy vein towards the insistent finish. There is something very assured about this 2015 Duo and I can envisage a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure. Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property.

The 2015 Duo de Conseillante is garnet-purple in color with a nose of warm cherries, black raspberries and baking spices with hints of dried lavender and tobacco plus a waft of dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and spicy with a plush frame and lovely line of freshness, it finishes long.
88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, from a sandy plot not that close to the château. Meant to be early-drinking. 60% new oak, higher than usual. pH 3.7. Lustrous crimson. Moderate nose. Then very sweet, almost jammy, nose. Fresh finish with just a little oak evidence. The considerable tannins are not quite fondu (melted). You'd have to wait a little for this. (JR)
About the producer
Château la Conseillante was built in 1750 and named after the proprietor, Libourne business woman Catherine Conseillan. The reputation of the wines quickly grew and her wines became some of the most expensive in the region.
