Tasting notes
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is matured in 50% new oak. There is a little reduction on the nose that makes it difficult to read at the moment. The palate is well balanced, offering brambly black fruit laced with crushed stone and sous-bois aromas, and nicely focused, with moderate weight on the tensile finish. There is plenty of energy infused into this Premier Cru, and it should drink well over 12 to 15 years.

From a 0.13 hectare parcel, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques displays an attractive and incipiently complex bouquet of sweet wild berries, candied peel, dried flowers, grilled meat and smoke. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy but tensile, with an elegant chassis of fine-grained tannins, excellent concentration and a long finish.
