2012 Grands Echezeaux

(from vines planted in 1926): Bright red-ruby. Very primary aromas of blackberry, mocha, coffee and cough medicine. Sweet on entry, then tight in the mouth, with a slightly herbal quality but terrific cut. A touch dry on the back end. Another barrel was more floral and more saline, likewise clenched today but with gentler tannins and excellent length. Laurent will put one of the three and a half barrels of this juice into his Echezeaux.
