Tasting notes
(55% chardonnay and 45% macabeo) Bright yellow-gold. Smoky, complex bouquet displays orange peel, vanillin oak, baking spices, toasty lees and a touch of poached pear. Deep orchard fruit and citrus flavors are given a slightly bitter edge by the oak but possess good sweetness. Floral and spice notes linger on the finish, which is broad, penetrating and very long. I doubt I'd be able to guess where this came from but it's pretty sexy.

Cervoles’ 2008 Cervoles Blanc is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Macabeo aged for 8 months in French oak with batonnage. Medium straw-colored, it displays aromas of toast, spring flowers, mineral, and pineapple. Ripe, creamy, and layered on the palate, more tropical flavors appear set off by lively acidity. This nicely balanced white can be enjoyed over the next 4 years. Importer: Carlos Montalvo, Fine Wine Imports, San Juan, PR; tel. (787) 782-8008
