Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Feb 2019
Moderately saturated medium red with an amber edge. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, roasted strawberry, mocha and underbrush, plus a hint of menthol. Rich, fat and ripe, with a soupçon of underbrush accentuating the wine's impression of sweetness. In a glyceral, slightly decadent style but with no shortage of energy. Substantial tannins spread out horizontally to coat the mouth. I wanted a bit more complexity and dimension but this is nonetheless a very satisfying drink from a very ripe, dry year.
