Tasting notes
100% Nerello Mascalese. Very Barolo in style – firm but rounded tannins with lots of grainy texture, high acid, dried red fruit, plenty of chew and grip. It has the austerity of classic Italians. (RH)

Showing volume and generosity in terms of its aromatic delivery, the 2017 Contrada P is a mid-weight expression with forthcoming and immediate fruit aromas. Fruit is sourced from the Contrada Porcaria. The wine holds nothing back and instead delivers wild rose, cassis, aniseed and licorice. I love the carefree intensity and honesty with which this wine presents itself. There is a very subtle note of crushed white pepper on the close. A mere 2,900 bottles were made.
From a vineyard at 650 m. Cask sample. Rich yet brooding on the nose. Supple and concentrated, but well balanced and already really accessible. Hedonistic, long and balanced with chewy tannins on the finish. (WS)
