Score 90/100 · Drink 1990-1998, Robert Parker, Jan 1990
Esmonin's Gevrey-Chambertin-Clos St.-Jacques is concentrated, and reveals a dazzling array of aromas such as plums, cassis, dried herbs, and toasty new oak. It is altogether enthralling. In the mouth, the wine is harmonious and surprisingly soft, but there is tannin in the finish. This rich, relatively large-scaled wine should age gracefully for another 7-8 years, but it can be consumed earlier.
