Neive. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby. A rich nose that is still a little brooding with a hint of ginger and the merest suggestion of mint. Concentrated and almost a little rich but not sweet and with plenty of crunchy tannins. The fruit could be a little fresher, but overall it is balanced, long and supple. (WS)

The 2018 Barbaresco Gallina is flush with baked strawberry fruit, licorice, cedar, and sassafras. The palate is full of macerated red plum, game, and dusty earth. There are fine grained, dusty tannins and a modern sensibility. Drink 2022-2036.
