A three-vineyard blend with a rather higher average yield than the Rachel and aged for 11 months in French barriques of which 20% were new. Mid ruby. Attractive spice on the nose and good mellow juice. Not a long distance runner but it offers lots of early pleasure. Admirable freshness. Hint of coffee but by no means too sweet or lacking fruit purity. Mild tannins. (JR)

Biodynamic. Mid to pale garnet. A little more savoury/earthy than the Main Divide tasted alongside. Deep and rich and still finely balanced although there is a touch of heat on the finish. Fine, dry savoury tannins suggest a good life ahead. More scented as it opens in the glass. Bright acidity through the middle. (JH)
Sample left over after Prowein. Slightly muddy ruby. Very sweet yet fresh start. Not very burgundian but more complex than the NZ norm. Dry finish. Some real activity happening on the palate. (JR)
Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2010 Leah Pinot Noir offers notes of black cherries and black raspberries with nuances of cloves, lavender and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied with mouth-filling red berry flavors, it has a low to medium level of silky tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drink it now through 2015+. I tasted a few of Seresin’s single vineyard 2009 Pinot Noirs again this year, to check how they were developing now that they were entering their drinking window.
