The 2006 Dry Riesling “Isolation Ridge Vineyard” exhibits a splendid nose of earth, slate/mineral, fresh grapefruit and dried pit fruits. Broad and mouth-filling with vibrant acidity and complex flavors, this intense Riesling has at least 20 years of aging potential although it can be enjoyed now. Bright straw. Vibrant citrus and white peach aromas are deepened by ripe pear and apple, with dusty minerality building with air. Racy, focused and pure, showing an array of citrus and pit fruit flavors and bracing stoniness. Razor-sharp lime and grapefruit on the long, pure finish. One of the more brilliant Australian rieslings I tried this year.
