Crushed flowers, sweet red cherries, orange peel and sweet tobacco grace the palate in Renato Corino's 2004 Barolo Arborina. Soft, round and silky on the palate, yet with gorgeous aromatics, the 2004 is wonderfully complete and expressive today. The 2004 is just starting to show the first signs of tertiary nuance. It should drink well for the next decade, perhaps longer.

Good medium red. Reticent, slightly medicinal aromas of smoke, brown spices, dried flowers and oak. Sweeter and fatter than the basic bottling, with currant and plum flavors complicated by brown spices. This has a plump middle but is still more austere than the Arborina from Renato's younger brother Giuliano. Finishes with substantial tannins and lingering brown spices.
