Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,378 g. Pale golden straw. Much more white pepper on the nose than most Weisser Burgunders, intensely aromatic! Excellent acidity. Really sleek and fleet of foot. Serious German Pinot Blanc but nothing like as ambitious as Querciabella's Batàr! No obvious oak influence. I think if I were given this blind, I would first of all guess it was German and then flail around trying to guess the grape variety. Not much of the sweetcorn often evident in Weisser Burgunder. A real Grand Cru pinot blanc that has everything you expect from a Grand Cru white Burgundy, in terms of subtle, buttery richness, chalky concentration and stunning balance through the awesome, wide-screen finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold.
