Notes of cherries, raspberries, candied peel and plums introduce the 2018 Corton Le Rognet et Corton Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively wine that's deep and concentrated, with the most reserved, introverted profile of Guillemot's range this year.

30% new oak. 50% whole bunch. Tank sample. Deep cherry red. Dark cherry fruit, fragrant but in a more serious, darker style than their Savignys. Precision and finesse in the winemaking. Fine-boned tannins, restrained, with the freshness that comes from whole bunch and picking on time. Light peppery spice that seems to come from fruit not oak. Long, elegant finish. Needs time to open to reveal its pure fragrance. (JH)
