100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit from BV Ranches No 1 and No 2. 1975 was a cool spring and a cool, dry summer and autumn. A very late harvest – the fruit for this wine was picked 18 and 29 October. Fermented in open-top tanks, blended and settled in century-old redwood tanks and then aged 36 months in 50-gallon American oak barrels.TA 6.5 g/l, pH 3.1.  Fascinating nose: spice, gingerbread, even a little Madeira-like. Beautiful, fine acidity. Sepia-brushed yet fresh redcurrant and cranberry fruit. Cocoa husks and tea leaf. Sumac spice. There is more life in this than in the 1991 – not unlike an old Pauillac. Graceful. A real treat to be able to taste this. (TC)

Beaulieu Vineyard's 1975 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour is one of the first wines that made me fall in love with Napa Valley. Alas, this is not a perfect bottle. It happens.

Last Tasted 3/92 This is a good rather than great Beaulieu Private Reserve, with a narrow aromatic and flavor profile. Cleanly made, with ripe, jammy, cassis fruit, it possesses light to medium body, and a compact, spicy, moderately tannic finish. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.
