‘Parcel in a cocoon!' is how Bruno describes these vines. Protected from frost by the forest. Above Les Folatières. Cool site. Tank sample, already fined with casein. Spicy and almost savoury on the nose, more mineral than fruit. But I detect a slight peachy note! The oak shows a little more on the palate in a sweet toasty quality but the finish is mouth-watering and salty. Then a creamy wrapping on the finish. (JH)

(in direct contrast to the Blanchot Dessus, the yield here was lower than in 2016): Aromas of lemon, underripe pineapple, dusty stone and crushed herbs suggest a dry, savory wine. Concentrated, fresh and intense, with lovely balancing acidity; a tad edgy compared to the Blanchot Dessus but not hard. A bit medicinal on the juicy, tightly wound back end. This is not yet showing the aromatic development of the Blanchot Dessus and will likely need more time in bottle. (Incidentally, Colin pulled up his old vines in Puligny-Montrachet Les Demoiselles after the 2016 harvest and expects to replant this site in 2019.)
