The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from the domaine’s fruit and purchased grapes. This is the one Village Cru from Bouchard that does articulate the appellation, with some lovely violet scents emerging from the glass. The medium-bodied palate offers lithe tannin, good tension, a mixture of red and black fruit and a touch of spice on the finish. Fine.
The nose has attractive rose and spicy red-cherry aromas, leading to a smoothly succulent palate that carries plenty of fruit flesh and depth. Great wine for early drinking. Try in the next six to eight years.
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village exhibits notes of sweet raspberry fruit, spices and smoky oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a juicy core of fruit, chewy tannins and appreciable amplitude and power. This hails from an old-vine parcel that Bouchard has purchased for many years and which contains an appreciable percentage of Pinot Gris—not uncommon in Vosne-Romanée.
