Score 87/100 · Drink 1996-2003, Robert Parker, Oct 1992
Esmonin claims his 1990s were not filtered, but reports circulate that a Kisselguhr filtration was done after malolactic. These wines are less intense than most good 1990s. And yes, they do reveal that spit-polished look that suggests either excessive fining or filtration. The only premier cru that merits recommendation is the Gevrey-Chambertin-Lavaux St.-Jacques. It is a backward, moderately tannic wine with a closed nose, but good weight and fine length and substance. Drink it between 1996-2003. Various American importers.
